Benefits of Renting Textbooks For College by Tywan Miller

Book prices can easily exceed over $300 per class for a book you may never read again after the course is over. Sometimes after you shell out this amount for the course, a new edition is released soon afterwards and the local bookstores will refuse to buy back those books!
An easy way to overcome this hit to your budget is to rent your textbooks! Renting textbooks gives you the option of selecting various editions of a textbook needed for your class and returning them when you are done. The rented price is a fraction of the cost of the books and they can be shipped directly to your mailbox.
As you begin your next semester, look into renting textbooks. Think about your options:
- Buy expensive textbooks books that may have a new edition released in a few weeks. Remember with this option, sometimes your bookstore will not buy them back.
- Attempt to get your book from the library (as if every other student in the class didn’t’ have the same idea)
- Buy your book from other online vendors. With this option, you are still stuck with a book that you may not need during your next semester.
Renting seems like the most feasible choice for the budget wise student. This keeps more money in your wallet and has a return plan when you are done with your semester. Some rental companies even let you write and highlight in the rented book with no penalty upon returning the book. Think about your options as the new semester begins and keep more money in your pocket by renting instead of buying textbooks!
